The NRN Commitee are happy to announce that Kate Holmes will share her expertise in balancing research and teaching commitments at their winter event.

Kate Holmes is an early career researcher who finished her PhD in 2017. In 2018 she started her current position as a post-doc at the University of Exeter on the AHRC funded ‘Theatre and Visual Culture in the Long Nineteenth Century’ project. Her expertise is in researching the histories of popular entertainments such as circus, vaudeville, variety, pleasure gardens and aerial performance. In the 18 months without an ongoing academic contract, Kate balanced an academic profile with teaching and non-academic employment and will talk about her experiences of the academic job market.
