Marvellous Mary Seacole

Cleo Sylvestre, actress member of this year’s Theatre Book Prize panel of judges, has in recent years performed her own solo play about Black nurse Mary Seacole of Crimea fame. There will be a launch party to celebrate the publication of its script, held on line so that everyone may attend.

It takes place at 7pm on 12 May (which is International Nursing Day) when Cleo will talk about Mary Seacole’s life and her contributions to advancements in nursing and there will be a panel discussion with:

Writer and presenter – Juliet Alexander
British nurse and Emeritus Professor of Nursing – Dame Elizabeth Anionwu
Game creator and black commemorative plaque founder – Jak Beula
Secretary of the Mary Seacole Memorial Association and President of the Nurses Association of Jamaica (UK) – Charmaine Case
Social commentator and Windrush campaigner – Patrick Vernon
