A New Poetics of Chekhov’s Plays: presence through absence

Book-launch: Pushkin House, 5A Bloomsbury Square, London WC1A 2TA, on Tuesday, October 14, at 7pm.

Following the paperback release last month of Professor Harai Golomb’s anyone interested in the study, teaching, interpretation and performance of Chekhov’s plays, and their centrality for the history and theory of drama and theatre is invited to the book launch, which will be moderated by Dr. Ursula Woolley, Director of Pushkin House – the home of Russian culture in London – and addressed by the following specialist speakers:

Prof. Donald Rayfield (emeritus, Queen Mary College, University of London) – a world renowned Chekhov scholar and biographer;
Prof. Cynthia Marsh (emeritus, Nottingham University), theatre director and world renowned Chekhov scholar;
Dr. Valerie Lucas, theatre scholar, director and designer, Programme Director, Theatre and Performance Studies, Regent University London; the book’s publisher, Mr. Tony Grahame, Editorial Director, Sussex Academic Press;
and Prof. Harai Golomb, the book’s author.
