The STR is an official supporter of The Stage Awards 2023

The Society for Theatre Research is pleased to announce that it will be one of the featured supporters of The Stage Awards 2023.

The Stage Awards are the highest profile awards celebrating excellence in British theatre across the whole of the UK. The awards recognise excellence in British theatre and will celebrate achievements in the theatre industry from December 2021 – November 2022.

There are nine categories: Theatre of the Year, Fringe Theatre of the Year, Producer of the Year, Theatre Building of the Year, Innovation Award, International Award, Digital Project of the Year, Community Project of the Year and Unsung Hero.

The Stage Awards launched in 2010 to recognise and celebrate excellence in British theatre. Now in its thirteenth year, The Stage has recognised 95 winners over the years, from national theatres and large-scale organisations to pub theatres and touring companies.

Chair of the STR, Professor Michael Burden said: ‘The Society for Theatre Research is proud to support The Stage Awards which celebrates the best of British theatre. Since 1948 the Society has been championing the history and technique of UK theatre, from the promotion of new scholarship to the development of theatre practice. We are thrilled to be a part of this event which celebrates the people and theatres who will be informing future research.’
