Our 2024-2025 Lecture Series will begin on Wednesday 30th October with ‘To Live Many Lives in One’: Laura Knight & the Bodies of Performance.   Knight (1936 -1970) was a pioneering woman artist, who was the 3rd woman to be elected as a full member of the Royal Academy of Arts.  Laura Knight’s life-long passion for capturing the visual dynamics of bodies in action led her to engage with an extraordinary spectrum of performance forms which extended from boxing, ballet and circus to the scenarios of backstage processes of creative preparation.  This talk will explore the diversity of Laura Knight’s ‘theatre’ while identifying some of the key individuals who facilitated her access.
