Best Practice! Innovative Techniques for Performing Arts Collections, Libraries and Museums

Performing arts collections exist within a fast-changing environment. Shifts in the world economy mean that collections managers have to be ever more resourceful in their problem-solving; at the same time, constant technological advances provide us with the potential to manage collections and meet public expectations in new ways. What innovations will give them a competitive edge against other visitor attractions, allow them to work more efficiently, and help them reach new audiences, capture live performance, and manage born-digital collections?

The 2012 SIBMAS conference will provide a showcase of innovative ideas, from the economical and low-tech, to the latest in applied technology. The conference programme will provide a mix of presentations from invited speakers and papers proposed by colleagues working actively within performing arts collections.”

Papers are invited which focus on truly innovative techniques and creative thinking from which others can benefit. They could relate to any of the following areas: Exhibitions, Collections Development, Loans, Documentation, Storage and Conservation, Public Services, Educational Initiatives and Events, Online Access.

We will publish more information as it becomes available.
