Joseph Donohue is Professor Emeritus of English, retired from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he taught for thirty-four years. He is still active as a scholar. He served from 1979 to 1984 as President of the American Society for Theatre Research.

Research Interests

Joseph Donohue is a theatre historian and textual scholar with major interests in nineteenth- and twentieth-century British theatre and Oscar Wilde. He has published editions of plays in three volumes of the Oxford Complete Works of Oscar Wilde, along with other books and articles beginning in 1970. He has completed two other books and is now at work on a study entitled Oscar Wilde and the Theatre.
