Researching Theatre in the Round

The extraordinary story of a small town on the Yorkshire coast making an indelible mark on theatre across the country and round the world.

The STR is supporting this two-day event, which will showcase the research potential of various collections concerning theatre-in-the-round in the UK.

Featuring:
An introduction to the Alan Ayckbourn archive in the Borthwick Institute, University of York with Professor Michael Cordner
Alan Ayckbourn in conversation 
with broadcaster and biographer Paul Allen
An introduction to Scarborough Library collection, including early correspondence between Stephen Joseph and Scarborough Library
An introduction to the Bob Watson Archive at the Stephen Joseph Theatre with Simon Murgatroyd, Alan Ayckbourn’s Archivist
A round table discussion with Dr Paul Elsam – actor, director, academic and author of Stephen Joseph: Theatre Pioneer and Provocateur

Delegate cost £200 including refreshments.
Some subsidised places for full-time students at £150.
