Our Instagram account recently held a ‘takeover’ from 15th – 23rd February led by Dr Billy Rough, the MA Combined Studies Co-ordinator at the University of St Andrews (and recipient of one of our Research Grants).

Billy has an interest in British painting and its link to the theatre, and was granted funds to enable research into the music hall paintings of Walter Sickert (1860-1942) with a focus on exploring the history and reputation of Sickert’s favourite hall, the Bedford Music Hall.

Billy introduced his research project and took followers on a tour of the ‘Sickert: Art in Life’ exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool. As well as promotion for the society, Billy fed back that he’d also made some good contacts and attracted new followers to his own Instagram account.
