End of the Sale and of the Bookshop
We regret to announce that the sale of our past publications must close on Sunday November 30th. If you have not yet placed an order for books or issues of Theatre Notebook, please make sure you do so on Sunday at the latest.
As you will have read, due to insuperable problems in storing the hard copies of our back catalogue, plus the ever-increasing costs and difficulties in sending them out by post, the STR has decided to stop selling hard copies of its backlist books and past Theatre Notebook issues. Our subscription publications – the Annual Book and Theatre Notebook – will continue to be published in hard copy and sent out to subscribers (with supplies retained for late renewals and lost copies).
We do have a solution for past Theatre Notebook articles right now. The Society has access to a complete run of Theatre Notebook from the first volume to the latest, and we can supply copies of individual articles on demand, in pdf form emailed directly to you, at a cost of £4 per article (£2 for members).
Please consult the Back Issues, using the search facility or browsing, and place an order (or orders) here:

However, we are also working on a plan to make backlist book titles available in the future. We are currently exploring making our titles available in digital form but the process will take some time and its success depends on making it cost effective. There are plans already for a revised second edition of Philip Butterworth’s Theatre of Fire, and recent copies of Theatre Notebook plus a few of our more recent books may be accessed via Project Muse, which is available via academic institutions that have a subscription to it.
Anyone who would like more information or has a specific books-related request can contact Trevor Griffiths on publications@str.org.uk
