Arlecchino & Felicity is Bottegavaga’s newest devised show, inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Eccentric Felicity is determined to mourn the tragic story of these star-crossed lovers. Never was there astory of more woe until Arlecchino appears – and cultures clash in a bid for the Bard. Can there be a way out of this tragedy? Only Arlecchino can tell!
Italian clowning meets Shakespeare: England versus Italy as you’d never imagined!
Commedia dell’Arte actors Vanni Carpenedo and Bettyna Andriolo bring Shakespeare’s constellation of characters to life through masks, music and physical story-telling.
Suitable for theatre-goers 8 and older.
Performed in English and Italian, this playfully inventive production appeals to speakers of either language.Why Shakespeare and Commedia? “Bottegavaga has long been fascinated with the potential synergybetween the two,” explains director Alberta Toninato. “Our new show reinvents Commedia dell’arte for the international audience of Camden Fringe.”
