Call for Committee Members!

Would you like to join the STR Committee?

The Society for Theatre Research welcomes expressions of interest for five vacant committee positions to be appointed at its AGM on Thursday 20 May.

Since 1948, the Society has advanced research into British-related theatre through running lectures and conferences, publishing books and journals, offering funding and prizes, promoting excellent scholarship and supporting the continuing development of practice.

Committee members serve a term of four years and attend around six full committee meetings a year. These currently take place on Zoom with future meetings set to be a mix of in-person and online.

In addition to sitting on the committee, there is also the opportunity to get involved with sub-committees whose responsibilities encompass the Theatre Book Prize, Research Grants, Publications, Annual Lecture Programme and Events. In 2023 the Society will celebrate its 75th anniversary. Becoming a committee member now also offers the opportunity to help plan our celebrations and play a vital role in shaping its future.

No prior experience of serving on a committee is necessary. We are keen that every new appointment reflects our theatre and research community in all its diversity, and therefore would welcome expressions of interest from those with culturally diverse backgrounds.
