The First Prize has been awarded to Alexandra Foy for her essay 'An Eighteenth-Century Capital of Culture? Conflict and controversy in Liverpool's Pursuit of a Theatre Royal, 1749 1771'.
Having obtained her MA in Victorian Literature in December 2009, Alexandra is currently working towards her PhD at the University of Liverpool. Her thesis explores the relationship between Liverpool's theatrical productions and performance choices during the late eighteenth to mid-nineteenth century, and the complex civic identity of the town. She is particularly interested in regionalism and perceptions of popular theatre and culture and has recently submitted an entry on Pantomime for the Oxford Bibliographies Online: Victorian Literature.

The Second Prize has been awarded to Geraint d'Arcy for his essay 'The Corsican Trap: its Mechanism and Reception'.
Geraint D'Arcy works as a theatre technician at the University of Glamorgan where he will shortly be submitting his PhD entitled 'Towards an Aesthetics of Theatre Technology'. Geraint delivered papers at the ISTR and TaPRA annual conferences in 2010 and has taught on technical theatre modules and given scenographic lectures to undergraduates at Glamorgan for the past three years. Geraint is also a published performance poet and science fiction writer.
