Applications should be from full-time students over 18, for assistance with attendance fees for conferences that meet the Society's purpose - to foster research into the history, techniques and practices of the British and British-related theatre. (Conferences on literary, textual or dramatic themes, therefore, are not eligible.)
Applicants should write to the Secretary at the address below, giving your name, address, course and institution of study, plus the title, date and venue of the conference you wish to attend. Please also state the advertised standard attendance fee (and student fee where there is one) and what contribution you are seeking towards it. If you intend to submit a paper, please give the title and a short abstract of up to 100 words. Successful applicants may be asked to provide a short post-conference report on the proceedings.
[Individual grants are likely to be not less than £50 and not more than £100. Exceptionally, the Society may be able to make a larger grant to organisers of conferences that meet the above criteria, to assist them in allowing students to attend free or at a purely nominal charge. Enquiries should be made of the Secretary as early as possible in the conference's planning process.]
