Since moving on from fund-raising for the Globe, The Friends' Musick has maintained a Shakespearean thread in some of its concerts. In April 2001 the singers joined forces with the New Shakespeare Players to create The Bard's Bash, dedicated to celebrating Shakespeare`s birthday, at the Actors' Church, Covent Garden. They went on to develop further Bard's Bash concerts in subsequent years.
As part of Shakespeare 2012 (which starts in 2010) this year's "Bard's Bash" will be performed in period costume by The Friends' Musick, directed by Norman Harper, and with readings from the Bard's works by Charles Neville. Music will be provided by the Friends' Recorder Consort.
