The Society for Theatre Research is a Corporate Member of the New Cavendish Club in central London; this allows the Society's members access to all the facilities enjoyed by the Club's own individual members.
Located near Marble Arch, on the corner of Upper Berkeley Street and Great Cumberland Place, the New Cavendish Club was founded in 1920. Its stylish and relaxed dining room, informal bar area, quiet lounges and public rooms, together with a roof terrace, provide a welcome home from home for meeting friends, working lunches and private dining.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dining five days a week and the bar serves hot and cold light meals and afternoon tea seven days a week.
Of particular advantage for the STR's regional and overseas members is the availability of overnight accommodation - thirty-five rooms ranging from singles to suites - available to STR members subject to a small supplement on the Club's standard rates. You can download the 2010 rates as a .doc file. The major changes are the removal of a half-board rate, but the addition of a bargain weekend-rate!
There are also a number of private rooms of various sizes for business meetings, receptions, dinner parties and seminars.
