Christopher Oram's work as a theatre designer includes Summerfolk, Stuff Happens and Power (National Theatre); King Lear and The Seagull (with Ian McKellen, dir Sir Trevor Nunn, RSC); Guys and Dolls (Piccadilly Theatre, London, and Princess Theatre, Melbourne); Evita (Adelphi Theatre, London); Red (Broadway) and Hamlet (Broadway).

He has worked extensively with director Michael Grandage at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, and the Donmar Warehouse London. Recent productions at the Donmar include Good (with Charles Dance), Caligula (with Michael Sheen), Frost/Nixon (also West End and Broadway), and Othello (with Chewetel Ejiofor and Ewan McGregor).

Awards include: 2004 Olivier Award for Best Costume (Power); 2004 Critics' Circle Award (Suddenly Last Summer); 2003 Evening Standard award for Best Design (Caligula)

The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception.

The Society has a collaborative arrangement with the Central School of Speech and Drama whereby they include an appropriate lecture in their annual public programme which the STR helps to finance. All members of the STR are invited to attend, but numbers are limited.
