The Department of English and Related Literature at the University of York is holding a festival and conference, Samuel Beckett: Out of the Archive, as a public celebration of the work of the Nobel Prize-winning Irish author. To be held at the University of York from 16-26 June, 2011, it features five major public events showcasing the work of Samuel Beckett and of contemporary artists influenced by this seminal writer, and highlights Beckett's stature through a pluralist embrace of artists, creative writers, theatre practitioners, musicians, and working scholars.
