Lydgate's Disguising at Hertford Castle:
The First Secular Comedy in the English Language

Translated with a study by Derek Forbes

Acted before the boy king Henry VI, probably at Christmas 1427, this short play does not presents six countrymen and their wives, rather than the abstract charcters of earlier drama. The piece is placed in the context of its time with a full translation into modern English and an account of this translation's performance at Hertford Castle, scene of the original presentation.

Paperback, 94pp, a plan, (1998), ISBN 900929 03 1, £5 ($10) inc. p&p.
